Volunteers are needed to transcribe handwritten documents from First Pres history, so that they can be archived in a more useful format.
Our current project is to transcribe the minutes from our very first Session book. The meeting had a total of two attending: our first pastor Henry Gage, and our first elder Edward Copley. Pastor Gage did not have ”easy to read” handwriting, and we need to preserve the information.
Our archived material gets more interesting when we start adding more elders in 1873. We also have some handwritten letters from members of the congregation which are their recollections of the church in its infancy. They are very interesting and we need to get them transcribed before the ink completely fades away.
Any number of hours you have to offer is helpful, and you can work from home.
