Death Wins. Really?

Death Wins. Really?

Apr 01, 2018

Passage: Mark 16:1-8

Preacher: Tim McConnell

Series: Really? – Untruths Uncovered

Category: Lent

Detail:

For some questions, the facts hang in the balance. For this question, your soul hangs in the balance.

This week's Sermon

Jesus tried to teach good things, but got on the wrong side of the law. The Jewish authorities prosecuted Him and the Roman authorities executed Him. He died just like everybody else, and stayed dead. But His believers made up a story that He rose from the dead because they loved him so much and wanted him to be “alive” in their hearts. Really? Not really. (April Fools!)

False stories were made up (Matthew 28:13) but they were stories to try to explain the missing body. Witnesses saw Jesus alive after they had seen Him dead. Jesus rose from the dead and lives eternally. We can too.

Question: Do you think Jesus really came back from the dead? Why did so many people believe it?

About This Series: Really? – Untruths Uncovered

Many untrue things get said about God, Jesus, the Bible and the Church. Let’s expose some false narratives as we walk toward Easter this year. We are not trying to win arguments but to begin conversations with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). Each week’s sermon will provide a thoughtful question so you can start a conversation with a skeptic or non-believer. Ultimately, Easter morning declares the greatest news. Everyone said Jesus was dead, and that death would hold Him forever. Really? Guess what—Jesus is alive again!
